MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Hilton Worldwide today announced the opening of its first Hilton Garden Inn (HGI) in the historic city of Krakow, Poland’s second largest city and a World Heritage Site. The newly built hotel is set on the banks of the Vistula River, just a short walk from the old town center, and offers spectacular views over Wawel Castle. HGI Krakow will be Hilton Worldwide’s third hotel in Poland, joining the upscale Hilton Warsaw Hotel and Convention Center and Hilton Gdansk, which opened in July 2010.

Welcoming today’s announcement, Simon Vincent, area president Europe, Hilton Worldwide, said, “We are delighted to open our first HGI in Poland. The new hotel joins an expanding portfolio in the country and demonstrates the commitment from investors for our award-winning, mid market brand. We are sure that HGI Krakow will be a success and look forward to welcoming guests.”

HGI Krakow offers 154 well-appointed rooms spread over six floors, all featuring the brand’s key signature offerings including the Garden Sleep System™ bed, ergonomic Mirra® chair by Herman Miller, a 24-hour business centre and complimentary high speed Wi-Fi Internet access.

The hotel has a contemporary lobby and features a lounge area and bar, as well as the HGI 24-hour Pavilion Pantry, which provides a selection of food and beverage items. A contemporary restaurant offers cooked-to-order breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as evening room service. Guests will also be able to earn and redeem Hilton HHonors points at the hotel and take advantage of benefits enjoyed by over 26 million members worldwide.

There is also ample meeting and event space, which can be divided into four separate meeting rooms.
Krakow is a well-established destination, popular with leisure travelers visiting the historic old city, which dates back to the 7th Century and boasts a wealth of artistic and cultural offerings. Visitors can enjoy heritage sites such as, St Mary’s Basilica, Barbican, Wawel Castle and the Market Square. Also, the city is an important economic center in Poland and is home to a variety of multinational companies.

Adrian Kurre, global head, Hilton Garden Inn, said: “HGI is a very successful global brand having recently celebrated its 500th hotel opening.  As our brand continues to expand internationally, we look forward to introducing more travelers to what sets the brand apart from our competitors.  With amenities that include the 24-hour Pavilion Pantry, complimentary internet access, printspots, the Garden Sleep System, stylish interiors and excellent service, all at an affordable rate, HGI is the perfect hotel for mid-market business and leisure travelers.”
